  • Joshua is the pastor of a church in Maryland. He wrote this book when he was 21 so that he could help others not go through what he went through in life and help those who have also gone through relationship challenges/problems.
  • The voice/style of this book is one where Joshua is not necessarily telling us that what he says is the one way to live. He is just trying to help those who want advice/help. He tells stories about his life and the lives of his friends and family.
Book
  • This book focuses on how we should put God before our relationships, even if it means not dating at all. He writes about some of the problems dating has and goes into depth about why they are problems and how they bring us away from our relationship with God.
  • This book has a good format that is easy to read and relate to. He tells stories that are true, and then gives guidelines, which are just options of what to do, not him telling us how to live.
Evaluation/Relevance
  • I think that this book is good for discussion because everyone has their own beliefs on what dating should look like and how far too far is.
  • This book does not have any connection to class, but it has a connection to our lives because some of us are thinking about dating or are in relationships. This book helps us to think about how our relationship may be getting in the way of our personal relationships with God.
  • I learned some different ideas about dating from this book and although I don’t necessarily agree with all he wrote, I think that it helped me learn what my beliefs are.

Joshua Harris is a pastor at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He tries to help teenagers and adults, about relationships and the downfalls of dating.
The style of this book is put in stories from his friends and family as well as his own personal relationships and beliefs.
Book
This book presents ideas and guidelines about relationships and dating. He brings up many good points but this book is presented as ideas not rules we have to follow when dating or not dating.
Good format, sets it up with stories and then talks about guidelines or suggestions after that, makes it easy to read and follow.
Evaluation/Relevance
Discussing this book with a group of girls was really easy to do, PCRs were easy to write because this book made you have a lot of thoughts about what he says and what you think, disagree or agree with. Prep work was good because he mentions a lot of points that lots of us would disagree with so while you're reading, and you come across something that you may not agree with you can write it down right away.
What I learned from this book is the different ideas of dating and how to get through the pitfalls in any relationship. I didn't agree with a lot of the points Joshua Harris wrote, but it's a good book to read and I suggest that people read it.

Author: Joshua Harris is the pastor of Covenant Life Church in Gaithsburg, Maryland and tries to help guide relationships through the pitfalls of dating with his book which he wrote when he was 21.
His style is full of stories from friends and family along with his own personal experiences and beliefs. The guidelines he sets are well supported and presented as ideas, not as set in stone rules.
Book: The book presents ideas on relationships and dating. They bring up good things to consider during relationships including all the major and trivial issues. They are presented as options, not rules which is good.
Well organized format of points backed up by stories, personal experience, and biblical support aide it easy to read and follow.
Evaluate: With a group of girls this book was easy to discuss in reading circles, and PCRs were easy written because no matter who you are, you've been exposed to relationships of some sort either with parents, media, friends, etc, and opinions about them are varied, so talking about them is easy.
